WEB GEMS- Bot 5th: Mike Matheny blocked the plate, saving a run!
Mike Lowell had 5 hits and 2 RBI as the Dart Weasels man-handled the Detroit
Iron Gloves - the final score was 12 to 1.
Lowell was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled in the 2nd inning, lined a
one-base hit in the 3rd inning, delivered a base-hit in the 5th inning, hit a
bases-empty home run (his 13th of the season) in the 8th inning and stroked a
base-hit in the 9th inning. Dart had many opportunities throughout the game
and scored in 6 separate innings.
Brad Hennessey(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Jon Garland(9-6) was tagged with the loss. He got hit pretty
hard, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
